I grew up in a very musical family. My dad being the bandmaster for the South African National Defence Force I grew up in a very musical family. My dad being the bandmaster for the South African National Defence Force(SANDF) for many years and my Mom and all her Siblings were Self-taught singers and Musicians.
After funerals, all our Family members would gather and sing and make music as our grieving method.
I remember distinctive moments how we would sing and play the guitar around the kitchen table while Mom was cooking up a storm. My Dad, on the other hand, was always consumed with sheets of music scores all over the dining room table. We off course were forced to listen to the classic radio station 101.3FM while in his car.
I am a classically trained pianist with the Trinity College of Music and later Unisa as I completed music until Matric.I started writing songs from a very early age of 10 years old.
I remember being terrified of the stage. I was a little boy who had to sing in front of an entire audience in the CapeTown City Hall. I ended up doing the “performance” only because my dad bribed me with a R20 note. After that scary experience there was no turning back for me.
